THORO – The team

We are master students from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bremen and are developing an autonomous robot as part of a one-year project work with which we will take part in the European Rover Challenge (ERC) in Poland in September 2020 take part. The ERC is one of the largest international robotics competitions for the areas: rover design, navigation and manipulation.

It is aimed specifically at young teams that compete with self-designed robots to master challenges such as those that could appear on Mars or the moon.

Our robot: ARTEMIS

According to the The robot with high-performance sensors is a competitive requirement and a manipulator arm. By using a Triple chassis and custom rubber tweels become one excellent mobility achieved.

The ARTEMIS Rover was developed and built within eight months for the national robotics competition DLR SpaceBot Cup by students from the University of Bremen and DFKI scientists. The system was supposed to find, identify and transport objects in a difficult and initially unknown area, partially autonomously, and finally integrate them into an overall system.
